A Little Sweetness for Your Autumn Tea Time
Gluten-Free • Grain-Free • Refined-Sugar-Free
There is a quiet sweetness to a life lived slowly…
The gentle sound of the kettle beginning to sing, afternoon light resting upon the table, and a little plate of homemade confections waiting to be shared.
As October settles into its golden days, I find myself drawn to the simple pleasures that make a house feel like home. A beautifully set tea table, a fragrant pot of tea, and something sweet, lovingly prepared.
And these Paleo Pecan Pie Bonbons are just the loveliest little indulgence for the season.

A Little Taste of Autumn
Inspired by the comforting flavours of traditional pecan pie, these petite confections bring together rich Dutch cocoa, toasted pecans, naturally sweet date paste, and my signature Salted Raw Caramel.
Each bonbon is rolled by hand, chilled until beautifully firm, and finished with a delicate creamy glaze and a scattering of toasted pecans.
The result is a tender, chocolatey confection with all the nostalgic warmth of autumn baking, made with wholesome ingredients and a little old-world elegance.
Best of all, they're gluten-free, grain-free, and refined-sugar-free.
Perfect for afternoon tea, autumn gatherings, or a little homemade gift wrapped with love.

A Little Bloomery Secret: Homemade Date Paste π€
One of the secrets to beautifully tender, caramel-kissed bonbons is my signature Bloomery Date Paste™.
Made simply from softened Medjool dates and a little water, this naturally sweet foundation creates a wonderfully smooth, caramel-like consistency that brings moisture and richness to my petite confections.
While store-bought date paste may seem convenient, the texture and moisture content can vary, sometimes leaving your bonbons too dry or difficult to shape.
For the most consistent results, I recommend preparing your own!
A Simple Homemade Date Paste
-
Soften. Soak 4–5 pitted Medjool dates in warm filtered water for 2–4 hours, until beautifully soft.
-
Blend. Drain, reserving the soaking water. Blend the dates with a little reserved water until smooth and creamy.
-
Adjust. Add additional water, a teaspoon at a time, until you achieve a thick, spreadable, caramel-like consistency.
-
Measure. Use ¼ cup (100 g) of your prepared date paste for the Pecan Pie Bonbons.
Bloomery Note: The secret is to keep your date paste thick and luscious rather than runny. Too much liquid can affect the texture of your bonbons.
I love preparing a larger batch ahead of time and keeping it in a glass jar in the refrigerator, ready for a little spontaneous tea-time baking.
And stay close, dear friends! I'll be sharing a dedicated Bloomery Date Paste™ recipe and video tutorial soon, so you can master this beautiful little baking foundation at home.

Shape the bonbons. Roll into approximately 20 petite, evenly sized balls and arrange on a parchment-lined tray.
-
Chill. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes, or until beautifully firm.
-
The finishing touch. Drizzle with your favourite creamy glaze, sprinkle with toasted pecans, and finish with a delicate dusting of cinnamon, if desired.
A Little Bakerlita Note
For the loveliest presentation, arrange your bonbons on a vintage porcelain plate, garnish with a few toasted pecans, and serve alongside your favourite warming tea.
My Tea Pairing: A fragrant Vanilla Rooibos or softly spiced Chai, both of which complement the caramel and toasted pecan notes beautifully.

The Beautiful Art of Living Well
There is something rather special about preparing a little treat simply for the pleasure of sharing it.
Not for an occasion, not because company is coming, but because an ordinary afternoon is worthy of being made beautiful.
I believe that living well is not about filling our days with more, but about finding contentment in the little things already before us.
A cup of tea poured with care. A homemade confection. A few unhurried moments around the table.
These are the quiet rituals that become our most treasured traditions.
So perhaps this week, give yourself permission to linger a little longer.
Pour the tea, share something sweet, and savour the beauty of an ordinary afternoon.
Because a beautiful life is not found in doing everything, but in being fully present for what matters most.
